#05 | Escape : The curse of the temple

Escape: The Curse of the Temple joins the list of board games as The Mansky Caper with its team effort to loot in a short amount of time with light and intense gameplay. There’s not the same element of luck, but it all happens in real time, and everyone debates the various decisions they need to make to get out of the temple.

All players roll the dice and act simultaneously. To enter a room, you need to roll the right tiles. If you are on an open turn, you can roll the dice to reveal the next tile in the stack and add it to this turn. Some rooms have combinations of red and blue characters, and if you get enough red or blue characters (perhaps in cooperation with others), you unlock magical gems by moving them from a separate gem box to that tile. For 1 to 5 players, the games are played quickly for 10 minutes.

#04 |Bang! Dice game

Bang! A dice game makes it to the list of board games like The Mansky Caper because of the fast-paced, criminal element and the dice game character. Blast is much more of a deduction than an adventure, where you get imperfect information and fill in the blanks, but where you can see how far you want to push your luck and require interesting interaction with other players.

At the beginning of the game, each player takes a role card and assigns it to a team, face down: Sheriff and deputies, outlaws and renegades. The sheriff and the deputies must kill the criminals, the criminals win by killing the sheriff, and the renegades want to be the last remaining players in the game. A player can roll five dice up to three times in one turn and use the results of the dice rolls to shoot at adjacent players, increase range, heal themselves, or do other things. For 3 to 8 players, the games take about 15 minutes.

#03 | Quiddlinburg Charlatans

The Quack of Quedlinburg belongs in the list of board games like The Mansky Caper because it is a super simple and thematic game of chance. Instead of exploring the locked mansion, try to make the perfect potion that won’t explode. This radically changes the way player interaction and variable powers work, which is an important part of the game, but the luck of the game and how far you want to drive it is there.

Each player has their own bag of chips and ingredients. During each round, they simultaneously draw chips and add them to their pot. The higher the value of the drawn chip, the further it is placed into the vortex. Add as much luck as you can, but if you add too many cherry bombs, your jar will explode. At the end of each round, players receive victory points and coins to spend on new ingredients to add to their bag, depending on the strength of the ingredients in their pots. With 2 to 4 players the games take about 45 minutes.

#02 | Grizzlies

The Grizzled belongs in a list of board games like The Mansky Caper, as it gives a thematic boost to your adventures with interesting borders. Although your resources are limited, your team must survive World War I in the trenches. The different strengths and the way the different actors interact have a significant impact on the overall outcome.

Each round, the current team leader determines how many cards each player draws. Then, after going around the table, players must either play the card they have in their hand or complete the mission. Every card is either a threat to the team. At the end of the round, more cards are added to the pile. The game is not over until the players have used up the deck and hands, with no time remaining. For 2 to 5 players, the games take about 30 minutes.

#01 Clank!

Clank! tops board games like The Mansky Caper because it is fundamentally different, the similarities in gameplay and motivations are incredibly similar. In both titles you are a group of thieves who go where you shouldn’t steal everything. You’re a team, but you end up throwing everyone under the bus and in the end it’s just a matter of pushing a little harder than everyone else, or hoping everything explodes if you don’t.

You must sneak into the evil dragon’s lair to steal valuable artifacts. Dive deeper to find more valuable loot. Buy cards for your deck and watch your thieving skills grow. Quick and quiet (knocking is the sound you make). Every careless sound draws the dragon’s attention, and every stolen artifact increases his fury. You need to find out how lucky you are. With 2 to 4 players the games take about 30 to 60 minutes.
