The Pickup-mission is one of the first missions you’ll encounter in Cyberpunk 2077. You can take another command called Dexter Deshawn Information. Pickup is one of the most challenging side missions in the game and challenges you to meet the Maelstorm Gang and catch a Militech robot, either by buying it or stealing it. You have three options if you take the car: Call or leave Meredith Stout (optional), tell Jackie to relax or not, and finally pay or shoot Royce. In this guide to mission selection and the consequences of Cyberpunk 2077 pickup we discuss all options and the best options for choosing Stout, Dum Dum and Royce.
Cyberpunk 2077 Collection – Stout, Dum Dum, Royce
We will examine the choices and consequences of each of the three scenarios.
Do you have to take Agent Meredith Stout’s chip from Militech or not?
This is the primary and optional target of the pickup mission. We recommend that you try to achieve this goal and remove Meredith’s chip. Because she’s a Militech agent, she knows how much you lie. Therefore, the first choice between All My Lonesome and Got Backup will not have serious consequences.
However, the next choice – whether or not to remove the chip – has no significant impact on gameplay. For this election, we’d say: Get the chip from Meredith Stout. If you take the chip with you, various other options and concert functions will be unlocked later in the game. If you take the chip and then choose all the right options, you also have the possibility to complete the mission with all the money and the chip for yourself.
Once you’ve taken the chip, you have another choice. Now you can either crack the chip or leave it. It is also a decision with far-reaching consequences. In this handbook we briefly discuss each of the consequences. But for now, if you crack the chip during a mini-game, you will notice that it has been damaged by a malicious virus. You will also be able to clean up the malware if you find it.
Tell Jackie to sit or not to sit when choosing the lady
Once you’ve taken the chip and continue your mission, go talk to Jackie. Now go to the quest marker that will lead you to a meat processing company called All Foods. Enter the packaging facility for all food products via the intercom and get acquainted with the NPC called Dum Dum.
Dum Dum will ask Jackie to sit down, but he’ll say no. It’ll make him aggressive, and soon he’ll be on Jackie’s nerves. Again, you have to make decisions that have strong consequences based on the choices you make. The choice will be to ask Jackie to sit down or let her fight.
- Ask Jackie to sit down with the consequences of the election.
If you decide to ask Jackie to sit down, he’ll calm down and let you talk. Then start interacting with the Dam, which will later show you the Militech robot you need to complete the pickup mission. Then Dum Dum will offer you a medicine to help you breathe. You can take drugs or you can refuse. It’s your only decision, because this decision has no serious consequences.
When you continue your conversation and you tell Dum Dum that Brick has already paid for the robot, Royce comes in. Royce will ask you again to pay for the robot. This will lead you to another choice: Shoot Royce or pay him. We will explore these options later in this manual.
- Let Dam and Jackie deal with the consequences of their decisions.
If you don’t ask Jackie to sit down, this conversation between him and Dam will turn into a big fight. There will be a combat situation and Malstorm gang members will attack you. You have to undress all the gang members you find here before you go looking for the robot yourself. The bone is in the room on the left.
Finding the bone itself is not the only negative aspect of this choice, there is another. Once you’ve cleaned all your tails and want to leave with the bone, Royce will cut you off. It will have the shape of a pattern and you will have to remove it before you leave the factory with the Militech robot.
Pay Royce or shoot him?
If you ask Jackie to sit down and not argue with her, Royce will talk eventually. He will ask you to pay him again for the bottle, or there will be consequences. As you suspected, there are two ways to get Royce or pay him. Here are the consequences of both options.
- The consequences of Royce’s election
If you decide to get Royce, you can show your physical strength or just pick up the gun and pull the trigger. You must have a solid constitution or, in other words, a physical ability to bring down Royce with exceptional physical strength. We therefore recommend that you only use this option if you have the strength to do so.
However, if you decide to shoot Royce, members of the Maelstorm gang will attack you. However, if you manage to defeat all the gang members, you will get some rewards. The first reward is of course a bone, the second is a cult weapon that Royce will drop, and in the end you get the chance to save the Militech chip that Meredith gave you.
As soon as you leave the bottled plant and give it to Meredith, she’ll congratulate you. She will also mention the future concerts you will receive from her company. The collection mission is thus complete.
- Implications of Royce’s choice
If you want to take your time and don’t want to kill Royce, you’ll have to pay with your money or a Militech chip. Paying with your own money doesn’t make sense here, because you don’t want to lose your money for other people’s property. It is therefore recommended not to include this option in the table. The only option you have left is to pay Royce with the chip. If you remember correctly, you had the choice between hacking the chip and cleaning malware or leaving it as it is. The consequences of this decision play a role here.
- Payment with the consequences of choosing a Militech chip
If you would hack the chip and clean the malware, you could offer Royce the chip and the message that the package is behind it in exchange for the robot. Royce will check the chip and thank you for the information. But shortly after the end of the convoy Militech attacked both Royce and himself.
You have to fight them and get out of here alive. There are also several drones that need to be destroyed. But your efforts will be rewarded with the rare upgrade materials that will fall out of the drones. As soon as you leave the area, Gilchrist will be waiting for you.
2. Payment with malware Consequences of choosing a Militech chip
If you leave the chip as it is in the first selection, it would be difficult for Malstrom’s systems to explore it. This will drive Royce crazy, and you’ll have to fight every member of the gang. As soon as you all shatter your tails and try to disappear with the robot, Royce will be waiting for you in his boss’s uniform. To bring him down, it’s best to scan him and attack his weaknesses.
After you’ve dealt with Royce and the other members of the Maelstorm gang, you can retrieve his iconic Cannon Chaos. The last thing we can do is take the bottle and give it to Meredith. Of course, you can warm it up by questioning her, because she dragged you into this. But if you remain calm and friendly, she will discuss your company’s future plans.
Cyberpunk 2077 Pickup Mission Best Choice
As you can clearly see here, the best choice will be
- Interact with Meredith and get the splinter out of Militech.
- Hack the chip and remove the malware.
- Contact Jackie and go to Factory All Products.
- Calm down, Jackie, and talk to Dam Dam.
- Shoot Royce.
Once you’ve destroyed Royce, make sure he gets his Chaos Cannon and iconic jacket back before he leaves the factory to hand over a bottle of Meredith. If you follow these decisions, you can also keep the Militech chip with you.
That’s all you need to know about the choice of the 2077 Cyberpunk pickup mission with Stout, Dam and Royce and the consequences for them. Once you’ve collected the iconic Royce weapon, you can add and remove fashion weapons and accessories to customise it. In addition to the cult weapons in the game, you can grab various legendary weapons, read them all to add to your collection and roam the streets of Night City as you shoot at your enemies.
