Sam Lake of Remedy Entertainment announced this week that a restored version of his cult classic action-adventure thriller Alan Wake would be published this year on a variety of platforms.

In his initial announcement, the game’s creative director and writer gave little information on the game’s graphical improvements, but images released by Amazon UK have given Alan Wake fans a decent sense of what the remastered version could look like compared to the original.

Alan Wake Remastered’s initial images, which were posted by Wario64 and Benji-Sales before Amazon pulled them down, hint to a visually better experience due to new textures, lighting, and color grading. One image also indicates that Alan Wake’s character model has been changed, as indicated by Lake in his open letter on The Sudden Stop.

Lighting, texturing, character models, and other aspects of the game have been improved. It’s good to know it’s not simply a better resolution.

In the first comparison, look at the tree in the background as well as behind the vehicle. It seems that even the world’s things are improving.

Alan Wake Remastered is the original Alan Wake experience that you fell in love with so many years ago. That was something we didn’t want to alter. However, all of the graphics, including Alan Wake’s character model and the cinematics, have been refreshed and enhanced with some excellent next-generation improvements.

Alan Wake Remastered’s box art for the PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S may also be seen in one of Wario64’s tweets. Alan Wake Remastered will be released this autumn for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Epic Games Store).
