Ubisoft is back at it with another installment of its popular racing game franchise, and this time it’s going to be taking on the streets of New York. “Need for Speed Undercover” is a new game in the series, and it’s coming to both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The game puts players in the role of cop Tyler “Ty” Morgan, who’s determined to take down the street racers of society. With a number of unique cars and cool features, “Need for Speed Undercover” should be a hit with both gamers and racing fans alike.

You’re a high-speed criminal on a mission to locate and steal the “Blueprints” from a dangerous crime boss. To keep the heat off you, you’ll have to take on numerous police cars, armored trucks and other high-speed vehicles along the way. The HD graphics will keep you on the edge of your seat as you drive through the city streets at top speed.

Abandonment

Max_Joker, the community manager of the r/NeedForSpeed subreddit, announced it on the 31st. May 2021 that five Need for Speed games will be removed from digital stores from that same day. Check the dates of breaks and individual availability at the top of each game’s page. The full text of the announcement can be found below:

May 2021, Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run will be removed from digital stores and you will no longer be able to purchase them. The playrooms will also be closed from 31 December. May closed. This measure is intended to prepare for the discontinuation of online services for these games, which will take place on 31. August 2021 will take place. Until then, you can play online with your friends (and opponents) and compete against each other. As of September 1, 2021, you will be able to continue to play the games and use the corresponding offline features of these games.

In Need for Speed Undercover, players race around high-speed tracks, dodging cops and chasing enemies as they work undercover to bring down an international crime syndicate. The game heralds the return of intense police chases and introduces the all-new Heroic Driving Engine, a unique technology used in breathtaking 180 mph highway battles.

A mix of CGI and live-action footage immerses players in the rich world of the Tri-City Bay Area. There are over 80 miles of roads in the city’s open world, including a huge highway system that sets the stage for highway battles. These intense, high-speed chases push players to the limit as they take on agents and enemies while hurtling through traffic at 180 miles per hour. The new A.I. Intelligent Mechanic provides realistic and energetic driving.

Need for Speed Undercover goes back to the roots of the franchise and introduces more aggressive and intelligent agents whose sole purpose is to take out the player quickly and by any means necessary. Need for Speed Undercover also features unique customizable vehicles, realistic damage and realistic driving characteristics. Starting May 31st 2021, Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them. In-game stores will also be closed from May 31st. This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on August 31st 2021. Until that date, you will be able to play and race your friends (and rivals) online. From September 1st 2021 onwards, you can still play the games and use the respective offline features of these titles.

Decisions to retire games are never made easy, but we are now shifting gears to focus on the future of Need for Speed. The development teams and operational staff have put a lot of time and passion into the development, creation, release and upkeep of the game over the years, and we love to see you play. But the number of players has come to a point where it’s no longer feasible to continue the work behind the scenes required to keep Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run up and running. We hope you have gotten many victories, satisfying drifts, moments of friendly rivalry, and hours of joy over the last few years out of these games.
