Netflix to Add Mobile Suit Gundam Anime Movies this June 2021

Anime films have been a staple on Netflix for the past few years, with the series Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, based on the Iron Blooded Orphans manga, the sequel to the 2011 film, and the live-action film adaptation of Death Parade in the works.  However, with the anime-only streaming service Anime Strike about to launch, Netflix is planning on expanding its anime offerings to also include series that were previously available on Crunchyroll.  The first of these, Mobile Suit Gundam, is set to join the service in June of 2021.

Netflix, one of the most popular subscription streaming platforms, recently revealed the first web of three compilation films of original series, as well as the first of the original films in the Gundam franchise. The collection of Mobile Suit Gundam anime films, released in Japan in the 1980s, will be released on 18. June 2021 to conduct the platform. According to the announcement, Mobile Suit Gundam I, Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow, Mobile Suit Gundman III: Encounters in Space and Mobile Suit Gundam: Chara Counterattack is a cartoon released on the platform. Mobile Suit Gundam I

The first part of the story, released in Japan in March 1981, forms the basis of the entire plot. The plot revolves around the year 0079 of the universal era. Amuro Rei becomes embroiled in a war between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. Unwittingly, he becomes the pilot of a prototype mobile spacesuit called Gundam. Now he and the White Base team must fight for their lives, while the enemy wants to destroy this new weapon at all costs. Each warrior will have to balance feelings of excitement and destruction as they fight their way along the cosmic path that will lead them to Earth as their final destination.

Mobile Suit Gundam II : Soldiers of Sorrow

The second part of a trilogy of films representing the entire series was released in Japan in the summer of 1981. The Federation ship Whitebase and its precious cargo – prototype mobile suits – return to Earth, but find themselves in hostile territory. As the White Base descends into the safety of planetary space, Gundam pilot Amuro Rei must contend not only with the fiercest warriors in the Principality of Zeon, but also with his own doubts and fears.

Mobile Suit Gundman III : Space Encounters

The third part and end of the story, released in Japan in the spring of 1982. This final part of the film shows the final battle between the Earth Federation and Neo Zeon’s army. As the end of the conflict draws near, the Earth Federation prepares to move the war into the territory of the Duchy of Zeon. Gundam pilot Amuro Rei, already a veteran, returns to space for the final battle. There he meets the enigmatic Lala Sune, a young woman who shares his Newtype gifts. Amuro’s opponent, Char Aznable, is trying to carry out his secret vendetta. The fate of two entwined enemies threatens to have tragic consequences!

Mobile Suit Gundam : Chara Counterattack

The first original film in the series, made in continuity with the original story. This film was released in Japan in 1988 and is set 13 years after the end of the series. Thirteen years have passed since the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. But the foundations of peace are once again threatened by the army of Neo Zeon, led by the infamous Char Aznabl. Their goal is to unleash a nuclear winter on Earth, ushering in a new era for humanity in space. Amuro Rei and the Federation army, equipped with the advanced Nu Gundam mobile space suit, are the only resistance to Neo Zeon. On the brink of revenge, duty and love, the final battle between rivals Char Aznable and Amuro Rei begins. Gundam is one of the most important franchises in Japanese animation and has been celebrated by generations of fans since the beginning. It started in 1979 with a series of 43 episodes (the English version has 42). Yoshiyuki Tomino, who was also responsible for the Sunrise movie, was responsible for the Mobile Suit Gundam movie from that game.
