Frequently Asked Questions

Is GeForce Game Ready driver update necessary?

At the moment, there are no GeForce Game Ready Drivers available for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or RTX 2080. And it’s not just because a driver is not needed; we don’t have any GeForce Game Ready Drivers for any GeForce 10 series GPUs either. Which means that there’s no need to update your driver right now, but there’s a good chance we will need to do so in the near future. Partnerships have been a consistent theme in the GeForce GeForce Game Ready driver releases over the last few years, as NVIDIA ties in various technologies with the benefit of game developers to optimize performance and functionality. With the Game Ready driver, NVIDIA provides a suite of technologies that improve both the overall gaming experience and the quality of games.

Do I need Nvidia Game Ready drivers?

Nvidia has released their latest GeForce Game Ready drivers, version 466.63. Since the launch of the RTX 20 series, drivers have been released as soon as the game titles are released, but this time the drivers came out more than a week after the games arrived. (This was just as well, as the RTX 20 series is supposed to offer a 3x performance advantage over the GTX 10 series.) Nvidia released the GeForce Game Ready Driver 466.63 for GeForce RTX 3080 Ti earlier today, August 13th, 2017. This new driver is the final part of the GeForce Game Ready Driver program, which has begun back in April. This program has had a lot of positive attention, and the feedback loop between players and NVIDIA has been great, which is part of why we are nearing the end.

What does GeForce Game Ready driver do?

If you have a new GeForce RTX graphics card, you likely have a new game to play with it. Titles like “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” and “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” are rolling out around the globe, and while they may feature RTX support, you can also find older games that feature the feature. You don’t have to wait until launch, though. The new GeForce Game Ready driver is out now, and it lets you play games with CUDA cores and Tensor cores enabled, which means you can get a performance boost even in older titles. NVIDIA today released GeForce Game Ready driver 466.63, the latest version of which is designed to provide gamers with the best possible gaming experience. In order to get it, you’ll have to download and install it. If you’re using driver version 466.39, this newest version will ensure that your GeForce RTX (RTX 2080, RTX 2080 Ti, and RTX 2070) GPUs perform at their peak, and will give you all the best gaming technology from the previous GeForce Game Ready driver.
