-Razer is perhaps best known for its impressive lighting fixtures and green LEDs that light up everywhere. But in a way, they’re in a better position if they take the easy way out.
The Blackshark V2 Pro doesn’t have the usual LED backlighting, but the design is sleek, clean, incredibly comfortable and high-performance, making it easily the best wireless headset Razer has ever offered.

Blackshark V2 Pro Overview

The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro uses the latest and best technologies Razer has to offer, including Hyperspeed wireless technology. Hyper Speed is one of the most reliable and stable wireless technologies on the gaming market. After testing this headset for a few days, I had no sound delay, no connectivity problems, and the battery life was very good for a feature-rich headset like this. It takes about 20 to 24 hours, depending on how many functions you activate in the Razer Synapse software – and that’s a lot more than previous Razer headsets with such an extensive list of functions.

The THX surround sound is good and the supercardioid microphone is excellent, but the real star of the show is the design. The helmet can only be described as incredibly thin and comfortable. Despite its long list of advanced technologies, it weighs only 320 g, and the filling is very soft yet very durable. The FlowKnit memory foam cushions are not only comfortable, but also of very high quality, like a luxury design armchair for your ears. The BlackShark V2 Pro is a bit expensive, but also feels like a luxury product worth the price.

And while appearances are subjective. The minimalistic black design is in my opinion certainly the best Razer headphones so far.

If I had one complaint about the BlackShark V2 Pro, it was the bass. A little on the weak side, and if you increase it, the quality will drop significantly. The sound quality is generally good, but there is nothing to write about the house. I would have liked to pay more attention to the quality of the speakers than to all unnecessary functions such as spatial and surround sound.

Still, between the excellent microphone, the long battery life and the exceptional design, I recommend it, especially if you’re a fan of Razer equipment. This is one of the best wireless gaming headsets in its price range, and without a doubt the best Razer ever made.

Design – Fresh and comfortable

While the Blackshark V2 Pro offers good sound quality, an excellent microphone and first-class wireless technology, the design remains by far the greatest strength. The ear cups and headband feature Razer’s new FlowKnit memory foam, which provides excellent cooling for your ears while providing excellent sound absorption.

My favorite thing about the design is the way he knows how to sit so firmly and securely on his head and still stay comfortable after hours of playing. The problem with many previous headsets that are too comfortable is that they fit very poorly and need to be repositioned again and again. With Black Shark, you get, as it were, the best of both worlds.

The new breathable FlowKnit foam is not only comfortable but also of very high quality. The combination of leather, high quality fabric and this new foam gives the helmet the feeling of a truly luxurious gaming device.

Minimalistic, slim design

Some people might prefer the more classic Razer design with colors flying around everywhere and LED lights, but for me the BlackShark design is so much better than the Kraken and other older Razer helmets.

The sleek all-black design, made from high quality materials, gives it a professional look and feels like a product for serious players who consider quality more important than showmanship. It is also a play helmet that you can wear in the bus or while walking around without twisting your head too much, which I really like.

Performance – Good sound, excellent microphone

Razer Headset

The BlackShark V2 Pro uses Razer’s new 50mm TriForce Titanium drivers, which in turn deliver clear and accurate sound. It’s nothing special, and it won’t make audiophiles happy, but it’s what you can and should expect from headphones in this price range. It offers clear highs and lows and is of sufficient quality to immerse you in whatever world you’re playing in.

The problem lies in the addition of ambient noise and surround sound functions – and it’s always a problem when a wireless headset tries to incorporate too many fancy functions. This increases battery life, and the added benefit of these features is simply not that great.

Spatial audio works by giving you feedback about where the sound comes from, in what order. But let’s face it, 50 mm drivers are doing well on their own, and even without this activation you can see whether the fire from an enemy aerial platform is coming from the front or the back. Surround noise is something that really messes with battery life, and it’s not worth it. The surround sound seems very artificial and I almost preferred headphones with these two functions, because they seem cleaner.

Fortunately, the headset works fine without these functions being enabled (which you do with the Razer Synapse software). So unless you’re looking for exceptional surround sound, which you hardly ever need in wireless headphones, the BlackShark V2 Pro is likely to be more than enough for you.

If you use the headset the way it is, without all the extra features, it’s really great and I recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality, comfortable wireless headset.

Microphone– Studio Quality

The microphone is something else entirely, and I didn’t expect it to be so good. Even without adjustments to the Razer Synapse, the supercardioid microphone has a clear studio quality that enables your listeners or teammates to communicate clearly and with high quality. Although I always recommend stand-alone mics for serious streamers or YouTube content creators, I would say that the BlackShark V2 works pretty well for beginners.

Although the basic microphone is great, it is also very adjustable in the Razer Synapse software, and if you really want to play with this thing, the extra settings are quite spectacular for a headset microphone.

Battery and connector

The BlackShark V2 Pro also excels in this area. The battery lasts up to 24 hours as long as you do not use surround sound or ambient noise (which I do not recommend). That’s a long time for such an advanced headset with high-end audio drivers.

Charging with the SpeedFlex cable is also very easy and can be done without interrupting the game session. The ability to charge the headset during active play is what I expected, and I was happy to see that Razer didn’t disappoint me.

Finally, the Hyper-Speed connection is excellent and, in my opinion, only corresponds to Logitech Lightspeed technology. Even when the battery is low, there are no sound or performance problems and data transfer speeds are without delay.

In other words: You get the performance and security of a corded headset with all the freedom of the wireless version.

Final Reflections – Is it worth it?

The BlackShark V2 Pro receives an excellent rating in terms of comfort and design. The microphone is excellent and the sound is pretty good. Overall, this helmet is pretty good, and if you’re someone who values comfort and design more than anything else, this helmet is unmatched in its price range.

I love the fact that Razer is starting to produce more gaming gear with a more minimalist design, and the BlackShark is my favorite Razer helmet so far.
