The nerds in the GF offices seem to agree, too, as many of the new Dynamax Pokémon in SWSH just glorify the Megas.
On various social media platforms, we’ve been clamoring for Pokémon to bring back Mega Evolution, so let’s hope our groans are heard.
But really, I hope some little bird at Game Freak sees some awesome Pokémon that deserve a mega-evolution, and maybe they’ll adopt one of my ideas.
Excadrill may very well be the most popular Pokémon of Generation V.
It’s still being used in the league, so there’s no reason not to give it a mega-evolution in the future.
My point is not just that Excadrill is competitive.
The mole is only half a meter long.
You know he has serious issues like a Napoleon complex, so give the little guy a head start. Literally.
Many of my choices for this list are based solely on what Game Freak designers can actually do with Mega Evolution.
The chandelier is the first example.
The candlestick line goes from the candle to the lamp to the candlestick.
This is a natural evolution that could turn into a mega-evolution.
I have no idea how you’re gonna wear that.
You could make it a lighthouse or something, I don’t know, but I know it would be cool.
18. – Knight
In my opinion, there aren’t many Generation VIII Pokémon that deserve a Mega Evolution.
But Corwinite is an exception to this rule.
It’s steel and it flies, just like the Scarmory, but it’s much cooler.
I mean, I get that the theme of SWSH was royalty and chivalry and all that. …. but the designers didn’t have to try so hard for Corwinite.
It is one of the most beautiful flying Pokémon, period. So if we’re going to bring back Mega Evolutions, do it in a way that keeps my Corvo (I named my Corviknight after the Corvo from Dishonored) relevant.
If there’s one guy who should have more mega-evolutions, it’s dragons.
They’re already the strongest Pokémon in the series. So why not push each of them to the limit?
They already gave Garhump a mega-mega, and look how that turned out.
There will be several dragons on this list. But Huxor’s coming from behind.
There’s no reason to,except I’d rather have his refrigerator cousin…… have.
Hydraigon is better than Gaxor.
I don’t care who you are or what you’ve done. You can be WolfeyVGC if I’m interested, and I’ll still support the point.
Not even in terms of statistics, but in terms of design.
While you can do something cool with Gaxor’s Mega Evolution, imagine the possibilities with Hydreigon. It’s already based on Hydra. So just give it more head and call it a day.
Dragapult is my favorite dragon rider of all time. And no, it’s not just because I have a brilliant one.
It’s a fucking stealth bomber that shoots its kids down like missiles.
What’s wrong with that?
Speaking of mega-evolutions, I don’t think I really need to explain that.
Like Hydraigon, Dragapult is already based on something, so take that design and raise it to eleven.
Blissie wasn’t in X and Y, but I have no doubt that if she had been, she would have gone through a mega evolution.
Pokémon that were honored with an extra evolution were often already quite strong, like Blaziken and Tyranitar, so Blissy would feel perfectly at home in the group.
This is one of the toughest Pokémon of all time. With a base HP of 255.
It’s a big, bulky egg, so make it bigger, bulkier, and more egg-shaped.
13. Supporting details
Niners don’t get the respect they deserve.
It’s an OG Pokémon based on one of my favorite legends, and it has the Pokémon knowledge to back up those legends.
This is probably the best example of how you can sometimes make great Pokémon with a simple, solid design.
No need for this generation V snowmobile nonsense.
That said, Ninetales is based on Kitsune. So that the mega-evolution is close to the original design.
There’s a lot of room for Game Freak’s creativity here, and I’d be very disappointed if it didn’t bear fruit.
Scarmory may not be as cool as Corwinight. But this is a stronger Pokémon.
Sure, he’s not much stronger, but he has a legacy that the Corwinite doesn’t have.
The Scarmory has been in the league since the second generation.
During all these years he received neither evolution nor pre-evolution. If they ever come back, it will be mega, and that’s a prediction I’m betting on.
He’s probably the most natural mega-evolution candidate on this entire list. Because it’s a unique production, where you can already see the competition’s play.
Remember what I said: If we have mega-evolutions again, Scarmory will be one of them.
This gorgeous Pokémon is the biggest sleeper hit of the entire series.
This is the kind of incredible design that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. So I hope the mega-evolution can change that.
Again, this is already based on something in real life. So make that idea bigger.
I’m posting Dragalge here not only because of his mega potential, but also because I want to see him in the spotlight for once.
I only use Dhelmise here because of its mega potential.
Listen to me, okay?
It sounds ridiculous, and it is, but turn the mega-evolution Dhelmise into a real pirate ship.
I mean, it’s already an anchor and a wheel. So the mega-buildings are on their own.
I have no idea how to write about this kind of Pokémon in lore….. but honestly, I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
It’s too great an idea to pass up.
It’s a sandcastle. Then make it a sand fortress.
Imagine that: They fight what appears to be a pile of sand that suddenly turns into a living fortress.
The Pokémon won’t fight, they’ll just lay siege to this thing.
Of all the crazy designs Game Freak could pull out of the hat with more Mega Evolutions, this is the one I’d most like to see.
No matter how puritanical you are, you can’t deny that a strong Pokémon would be great.
8. sand shavings
Sandslash is my favorite general.
So, of course, I maintain that this will be mega-developed at some point in the future.
I have no crazy ideas or arguments for this entry. But I don’t think I need it.
If you’ve been playing Pokémon for a few generations, I’m sure you understand why I would want one of these mega OGs, even more than Ninetales.
If you want to get an idea of what this might look like, consider that Sandslash is a hedgehog. So take what you want.
The sand orca may be my favorite of the original 151, but the Roserada is my favorite grass of any generation.
Again, I hope I don’t have to justify this position, but for those of you who have no taste :
Roserada is a literal ninja.
You can do a million different things with your Mega.
Looking forward to giving it a Samurai-inspired mega-evolution. Even if it doesn’t make sense.
Roserade is one of the coolest Pokémon ever made, so I’d love to see what the team can do with a new member of their genetic family.
It would be an insult to Mega Evolutions to stop giving Pikachu or Raichu.
I don’t know why they didn’t bring the family back to X and Y. But hopefully they’ll fix that bug if they decide to bring a mechanic back.
Pikachu and Raichu – Pokémon.
Something like literal talismans.
Then why didn’t you give them a mega?
The next three Pokémon are all here for the same reason, so you can probably guess which species it is.
I’m talking about the fourth generation starters of course, and with the remakes of DP, it’s a good time to talk about them.
Sinno’s starters are perhaps the strongest trio in any generation. But maybe that’s just a sign of my bias against the fourth generation.
Anyway, I don’t think there are many people who will argue that Empoleon isn’t the weakest of the bunch.
I mean, this is the best HM slave of the fourth generation, and that’s with Bidoof in the background. It’s not like Empoleon was made to succeed.
However, there is no doubt that if we give a region a mega-treatment, it must be Sinno.
Torterra has to be my favorite fourth generation starter.
But I can see why people prefer Infernape.
However, I think Torterra has the most potential of the three in terms of their mega-evolution.
Torterra has a tree growing on its back, so make Torterra and the tree bigger. That’s all it takes to make Torterra a mega fantasy in my eyes.
Ah, yes, the Blaziken dollar store.
I’m just kidding, but you have to acknowledge that Blaziken got the mega and Infernape didn’t.
Better late than never.
As for the team design, I don’t really have anything inspiring in mind.
You could always go for a gorilla style, but that would detract from the athleticism of the Chimchar line.
But whatever Game Freak does, the mega-evolution for Infernape will be welcomed by fans.
It is one of the most popular appetizers of all time. So watch out everyone loses their marbles if it’s ever announced.
Make it a motto. Seriously, just a giant girl word.
Or make it a big plate.
In short, I’m happy.
Seriously, though: Wouldn’t it be great if Aegislash had different mega-evolutions depending on his form?
Like I said, it could be a huge clay sword or some kind of Viking shield, which would be absolutely amazing.
This could be an opportunity for Game Freak to do something unique, which I always enjoy.
Okay, I’m trying to influence Game Freak to make Pokémon Kraken.
While I hope we get a Kraken legend in the next generation of games, I’d settle for giving Malamar a mega-evolution to get the job done.
I mean, the design is pretty clear.
That’s some kind of creepy psychic squid right there. Then make it a good old-fashioned octopus.
No need for frills or thrills. Keep it simple, and I’ll be happy.
Like I said, I pray to Arceus that Kraken becomes a legend.
So I wouldn’t mind not seeing Malamar’s mega-evolution. Even if it’s completely deserved.
