Grasslands are the safest of all and will be your starting biome. Here you can familiarize yourself with your surroundings, because the further you go, the more dangerous it becomes. You will find birch and oak that will provide you with good wood, and you will also come across beech. The enemies here will be the shadow, the hackle, the wild boar, as well as certain creatures like deer and gulls. The exploitation of the region’s resources will provide you with wood, mushrooms, flint, water, stone, dandelions, raspberries and a beehive.

Black Forest

As the name suggests, the Black Forest is full of scary creatures and is quite dark compared to the meadows. Pine and spruce trees grow here, but also skeletons, grey dwarves and their variants, and trolls. The best part of this biome is that you meet Haldor, the traveling merchant. You can trade and get different items that give you more weight (megingjord), a forward facing light that helps you see in the dark, a fishing rod, bait, and more. This biome contains caves and tombs for trolls, and the second boss, the Elder, will appear here.

Valheim Wetland Biome

The swamp biome is a dark and gloomy place, with tall trees and water full of leeches. There will be Sertlings, Draugrs, Compilers, Blob, Wraith and other enemy creatures. Resources such as old bark, scrap metal, hexes, safflower and turnip seed are worth bringing to this area. The boss’s thin bone mass will also spawn in a swampy biome.

In the mountain landscape, there are frozen areas and unbearable cold, so one must be prepared before deciding to fight against low temperatures. Here you will encounter wolves, grain, stone golems and fences. In this biome, players must defeat the boss of Modera. You will also see dragon eggs as you explore the mountain tops. Don’t forget to make mead in a frost-free place beforehand to protect yourself. As for resources, here you will find money and obsidian.

The levels have an open area where you will meet Fulling, including Fulling Berserker and Fulling Shaman. Besides these enemies, you’ll also have to fight the Death Walkers and tame the Lox. If you do enough research, you will even find flax and barley that you can use to your advantage. The fifth pattern of the Skeleton Jaglut appears on the map of Valheim in the Plains biome.

The ocean biome contains sea snakes that have some useful drops, but there is a trick you must use to kill the snakes. On your cart or sloop you can sail on the high seas and even spot the Kraken. If you try to swim there, your endurance will quickly decrease, so you will definitely need a boat.

The fog biome in Valheim has some huge trees and cobwebs, but that’s all we know for now. Since the web exists here, there will probably be enemies that look like the web. Will they be deadly similar to the Deathly Hallows? Let’s wait and see how the additional information on the map will be revealed.

Lower North

The deep north is another biome that contains snow and some spruce trees. This biome is located at the top of the map of Valheim.

After all, Ashland is an arid area full of surf, but there are also ornamental minerals that you can mine in this area. Furthermore, there isn’t much to do in Ashlands in the first version of the game.

We will learn more about these biomes of Valheim as the underdeveloped gain more creatures, resources, items, and of course higher level enemies and leaders. We will update this article as we learn more about the map of Walheim and the history of this biome. But in the meantime, check out our wiki on Walheim for more behind-the-scenes tips and tricks.
