What Is The Connection Between Disney+ Kenobi & Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? [VIDEO]

Disney+ is the newest streaming service that will be launching in November 2019, with a focus on “family-friendly” content. Jedi: Fallen Order was first announced at E3 2019, and it appears to be more of a Star Wars game than anything else. This could mean they are planning on making one big story arc for this series, or possibly even creating their own lore independent from Disney+.

The “when is obi-wan series coming out” is a question that has been asked for years. The answer to this question is “Disney+ Kenobi”. This game will take place after the events of Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order.

What Is The Connection Between Disney+ Kenobi & Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? [VIDEO]

NEWS IN THE FILM INDUSTRY – Respawn Entertainment’s game is hinted at in a new teaser for Disney+’s Kenobi series.

The Ewan McGregor-starring Kenobi series for Disney+ is without a doubt one of the most eagerly awaited Star Wars goods among fans. No surprise, given that the new miniseries not only sees the master (and general) Obi-Wan Kenobi return, but also promises one of the most awaited duels of all time: a rematch between Kenobi and his former disciple Anakin Skywalker, this time in Darth Vader’s evil sanctuary. The initial trailer, which you can view at the bottom of this post if you haven’t already, has aroused great hopes among video game aficionados. Some fans were able to identify obvious connections to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Will we see Cal Kestis in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens series?

Let’s take a look at the most remarkable features from the Kenobi series that this initial teaser alludes to, as well as how they compare to Respawn Entertainment’s game! Please be aware that certain facts have surfaced that may include (capitalized) SPOILERS for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s plot.

The parallel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cal Kestis is the first and most important factor. At the moment in the Star Wars timeline when the two tales take place, i.e. between the events of Episodes III and IV of the movie epic, both protagonists are forced to live in obscurity, hiding and attempting to stay unseen.

Both storylines take place between the movie’ third and fourth episodes.

Remember that the wicked Galactic Empire is establishing up business throughout the galaxy after a nasty coup against the Galactic Republic in Episode III, Revenge of the Sith? Under the leadership of Darth Vader, the Empire rises to power and destroys the Jedi Knights, the defenders of peace and justice throughout the Republic’s reign.

Both characters are obliged to escape in order to avoid being seen. After a confrontation with his former pupil and friend Anakin Skywalker, who later became Darth Vader, Kenobi observed firsthand the circumstances that led to such a catastrophic predicament. At the same time, the game’s protagonist loses his teacher and is unable to finish his training as a Jedi Knight in the customary manner as the Jedi Purge starts.

Despite their age gap, during the Clone Wars, Kenobi was already a Jedi Master, a member of the High Council, and an accomplished commander. Kestis, on the other hand, was just a Padawan when he was forced to depart (much like Kanan Jarrus, the main character in the Star Wars Rebels animated series). So far, we know that until his reappearance in Episode IV, Kenobi spent the most of his time hidden on the planet Tatooine, ensuring the safety of young Luke Skywalker. However, we see him on the planet Daiyu in the first teaser. Meanwhile, following his master’s killing, young Kestis spent many years in hiding on the planet Bracca.

They cover their Force-user identities and do mundane chores, oblivious to the other employees. In the trailer for the series, Kenobi is shown cutting unknown blocks and sharing a mode of transportation with other employees, whilst Kestis is seen working in a wrecking yard of Clone Wars ships and riding a train with his comrades at the opening of Fallen Order.

What does Disney+ Kenobi have to do with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order?

The existence of the Inquisitors is another significant link between the two scenarios. They’re a group of Force users that form an elite squad tasked with tracking down and assassinating the few surviving Jedi Knights spread throughout the galaxy after the Civil War’s conclusion. This squad consists of vicious “brothers” and “sisters” trained by Darth Vader himself and headed by the Grand Inquisitor, who was portrayed by Rupert Friend in the Kenobi series and also appears in Agent 47.

The Inquisitors also feature in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens saga.

The storylines of these characters have been gradually explored in the new Star Wars Expanded Universe, including animated shows like Star Wars Rebels, comic books, and, of course, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Several of these characters, particularly the Second and Ninth Sisters, function as enemies to the main protagonists in the game. The addition of this demonic fraternity as Kenobi’s adversaries in this live-action adaptation is a promising decision, but it’s unclear if either of the two Fallen Order inquisitors will appear in the Disney+ series.

The menace of the Inquisitors seems to be the catalyst for both the Obi-Wan series and the Cal Kestis adventures. The Grand Inquisitor explains in the series teaser that the best method to track down the Jedi is to wait until they reveal themselves with a good act. With that, the teaser suggests that Kenobi will be compelled to intervene to defend an innocent person from the Inquisitors, just as Cal does when he attempts to stop the Second Sister from killing his buddy Prauf.

The Inquisitor base, which is reportedly the same one we journey through in the last episode of Jedi Fallen Order, buried in the dark waters of the Nur moon, will apparently be visited at some point in the series. Cal will meet Vader himself in the game’s final episode, when Kenobi reunites with his old disciple in what promises to be the most anticipated duel in Star Wars history.

This quick rundown of the similarities and differences between Kenobi and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also points out one notable distinction. While Ben Kenobi decides to keep his name and life on Tatooine in order to protect Luke, young Cal Kestis and his Fallen Order adventure group seem destined to seek out the remaining Jedi in hiding.

Will Kestis, who cannot be Kenobi, lead the Jedi Knight resistance? This plot seems to be explored in a future sequel to the game, which has yet to be announced but may have thematic parallels with other Star Wars projects like Rebels or the planned Ashoka series. Will there be any direct allusions to Jedi: Fallen Order in the Kenobi series, such as the presence of Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis? From May 25, 2022, find out on Disney Plus.
