On Saturday, 5th September, the first trailer for Jason Statham’s new action film, Wrath of the Titans , was released. Needless to say, we were thrilled. The film, based on an original story by director Jonathan Liebesman (Battlefield: Bad Company), is about a mythical Greek god (Statham) who teams up with a human (Robocop actor, Karl Urban) to save the world from the evil Queen (Olga Kurylenko) of the Titans.

Jason Statham is back. After a two-year hiatus from action movies, the legendary actor is back in his old stomping grounds: the action movie.

FILM REVIEW – After Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie explores American crime in Wrath of Man. Is the director’s new collaboration with Jason Statham worth watching? Read our review…

Is Guy Ritchie on his way to becoming the most prolific director of the decade? Just over a year after the release of Gentlemen, the director returns with a new feature film that should blow away the box office. The film, titled Angry Man, follows the adventures of a British security guard who has just been hired by an American company. But he hasn’t passed the entrance test yet or he demonstrates incredible shooting skills during a robbery. Now everyone is wondering who he is and where he came from.

For Jason Statham, silence is golden

Jason Statham, discreet and charismatic, shows his talents in the title role. With his muscular and intense acting, the British actor almost managed to make us forget his recent performances in the Fast and Furious saga or Unstoppable. But in the end, Guy Ritchie’s direction rarely disappoints.

However, he is not always accompanied by actors of his level. Scott Eastwood, for example, is convincing in his portrayal of a cartoonish antagonist as deep as a whiskey glass. The same goes for the cast of characters, whose scripted roles are great, but whose depths are ultimately rather anecdotal.

And finally, the music of Chris Benstead. After an excellent score for Gentlemen, the composer returns to surprise us with an original music for the film. Squeaky, violent and sometimes thunderous, Benstead’s work again aptly underscores the dramatic intensity of the scenes. It’s a great art.

Despite Guy Ritchie’s writing skills and expertise in the field, Angry Man sadly lacks the British director and screenwriter’s signature sharpness. If the trip is worth the distraction, we regret that he didn’t take the opportunity to offer us a gritty story, as he did before. Still, Angry Man does its job and gives us a compelling story, very well played by Jason Statham.

User evaluation : Be the first! In 2012, Jason Statham starred in two relatively similar action films: The Bank Job and Mechanic: Resurrection. In both, he portrayed a professional thief who embarks on risky jobs in order to pay for the ill-gotten gains of his criminal past. As a result, in both films Statham’s character is portrayed as a professional criminal who is deeply remorseful for his past, and is trying to atone for his misdeeds by doing good deeds for other people..
